We finally ordered our invites.

So. I mentioned a few posts back that I wanted something very specific for invites. I even ordered samples (which were GORGEOUS)... but then I realized that NO ONE else cared about these invites as much as I did (namely Mr. KM and my parents), so on a trip home to Atlanta, we stopped by Paper Source (LOVE!) and found some that we instantly connected with (in so much as anyone can connect with a piece of paper. We sat down, designed them, took home a semi-proof to word on the wording/ fonts (Mr. KM is a stickler for fonts) and returned 2 days later to purchase these:

They're not simple, they're not letterpress (though the are embossed with wood grain) and they won't be covered in lace, but I really like them, and now that step is done!

Save the DATE, we're getting MARRIED! The DIY III

Almost done! Well, by almost I mean you have to assemble the things and finish making the outside of the cards. So... 3 movies worth of worth- line them up!

Buy 8 yards of lace then later realize you only need about 5.

Cut 100 pieces of 5 x 10 lace (if you're making 5 x 7 cards)- this will give you some overhang so you can trim the ends and make it look pretty.

Spray adhesive. Seriously. Do not even bother trying anything else because it won't work. I used glue dots, rubber cement, glue stick, and Elmers trying to get these things to stick and spray adhesive is where it's at. Put something down! I used a roll of wrapping paper that cost like, a dollar, and just kept folding it over when it got too sticky. Trust me on this. Anyway, take each piece of lace, spray it, and stick. Trim the ends. Do this 100 times but get a kick out of it because the fumes are starting to kick in cause you didn't open a window.

I don't have pictures of the rest of it cause my camera died, but repeat with the little barns, stick your photo corners on the information and stick in your STD! TA DA! You're done! Take a drink and go to BED!

Save the DATE, we're getting MARRIED! The DIY II

Okay. We've talked about the tags, and the actual cards. Now, we talk the actual STD! And little barns.

Open your NeoOffice drawing pad thingy. Or whatever you use to lay stuff out in. I'm pretty much completely image program illiterate, so I don't bother with things like... photoshop. Or Illustrator. Or whatever. Anyway, open that, select the font you want (I used one that starts with a Z and has alot of what Mr. KM called "swashes." Which makes me think he's a pirate in disguise.

Google the state you're getting married in (for me it was the KY!) and "outline"... that took me to this website and it was awesome. Copy the image and adjust it to size. Then type the rest of your information. Copy and paste to put 2 on a page. Adjust your margins if you have to so they're not too close together.

Print out 50 pages of these on ivory cardstock. Cut them up! Using the 1/16" hole punch, make a hole where you think your city is. Approximate. No one is going to measure the scale. Tell yourself that over and over again when you totally misjudge where Lexington is. Repeatedly.

Set those aside! You'll need them (duh). Post a frustrated thread on WeddingBee asking for barn stamps. Have user twocatcupcake solve all your problems by finding a perfect barn sketch. Copy the design into another drawing page and paste the barn 8 times.

Cut 'em out!

Set em' aside! Go back to your information and your tags. Line up the holes and stick a teeny tiny brad through them. Yes, this is a picture from the finished product and yes, I'm a bad blogger for not taking a picture.

Make a HUGE mess on your kitchen table:

Organize them:

And set them aside!

Only one more series of steps, I promise! Take another drink. I've moved to tea.
