GOOOOOO C-A-T-S! CATS, CATS, CATS!

For those of who who follow college basketball, we're surrounded by Wildcat Country. Big Blue Nation, where we BLEED blue (can we see how many quasi-slogans we can fit in one post?) Oh yes, it's the University of Kentucky Wildcats: "the winningest program in college basketball history". We reached 2000 wins first! Take that, Kansas. It's kind of a big deal, and we have some of the CRAZIEST fans and largest/ most devoted fan base of any college team.

I graduated from UK with a degree in English, but, um, even though I'm an alum and basketball is a big deal here, I have a confession to make...

I don't care about basketball. The ball goes up and down, players go round and round... whistles blow, I have no idea what's going on. Not my cup of tea, even though some people (like those members of the Big Blue Nation) care SO much they memorize EVERYTHING about their favorite team. A, however, does care about basketball, to a nominal degree anyway (his favorite sport by far is baseball). So one week when his dad called him to say something along the lines of, "I've got tickets to the exhibition game but can't use them. Do you and Kristen want to go?" I couldn't say no. We weren't doing anything that night... why not?

The beginning of basketball games are exciting, though! They have things like HUGE flags...

...spotlights AND fireworks...

... and junk food (this was sitting under the bench behind us, I just ate candy that I had in my purse)!

But then, all the fanfare at the beginning stops and then you just have basketball. But because A likes basketball, and I love A, I kicked back, got my cell phone out and enjoyed the show... and thankfully had a friend that kept me company via text. But I was there, and I think that was important to him. And even if I don't like basketball, the enthusiasm is contagious beyond belief. All the fans and cheering... it's a reminder of what it's like to be alive and the energy is amazing. So, between making A happy and the excitement of 15,000 cheering fans , it's so worth it.

What activities/ events do you go to that you don't necessarily enjoy but do/ go to because your better half likes them?
